Meet Mr. Hubbard
Army Veteran Calvin Hubbard is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works out of Rochester, New York, and Huntsville, Alabama. A Native of Dallas, Texas, he received a B.A.E. degree from Texas Southern University and his M.S.T. from Rochester Institute of Technology. Since 1966, Calvin has created sculpture, pottery, public art, murals, and art installations.
Since 1967, Calvin has exhibited in solo and group shows. He designed and painted murals at Texas Southern University, created art projects for public schools, and local businesses throughout Rochester, New York. His work was shown at East High School, the Downtown Holiday Inn, and the Hochstein School of Music, among others.
Calvin’s work has won awards, including multiple first prizes in sculpture and the prestigious Martin Luther King Cultural Art Award. His work often incorporates turtles, an ode to nature, survival, strength, and aspects of man in his natural environment. He is currently the owner and operator of Turtle Pottery Studio and Gallery.
